Website inc Database Driven Shopping Basket

AudioRec is a popular Asian Record label, based in London. The Client contacted Abbacus Technologies with a view to a total face-lift of their existing Website. AudioRec wanted us to create a more visually appealing web presence, which also encompassed a user-friendly shopping basket system. They also wanted to highlight the company catchphrase which is "online Indian music store"; we believe the Website designed reflects this philosophy.

The existing Audiorec website already had a clearly defined colour coding system for their various product ranges. Although clearly defined, the materials clashed with a variety of text and design styles, and the perception presented was disorganization. Abbacus Technologies redeveloped the Audiorec graphics, including the colour scheme and typefaces, with simplicity and functionality in mind to allow ease of use.

The main design challenge was to display the many different sections of the shop, within the site, in a clear and coherent manner. The result created a uniformed style throughout Audiorec, using colour to distinguish the various shopping departments from other areas of the Website. Consistent shopping icons and graphics, create a user orientated interface, with the clarity of information being of paramount importance. The monthly catalogue and the Website are now systematic in their design, which is geared to maximizing their sales.

During the development phase, the client was exposed to the actual capabilities of the Internet. This newfound knowledge allowed the client to understand the Internet and led to continuous improvements and modifications of the Audiorec site, which include automated user reviews of the products. Abbacus Technologies were adaptable to the clients many ideas.

The online shopping cart is a model of user simplicity. It is database designed using ASP scripting, and fully maintained online. Backed by extensive advertising, the catalogue consists of over 550 titles, and is as successful as the amazon store for indian music.
